Sunset at Marina Resort, Calabar

Life can be so fickle and meaningless at times. I mean you're there one moment, then gone the next, but what defines you when you're gone? And does it really matter what legacy you leave behind?

This year alone, I can't begin to count the number of celebrities or influential people that have passed, the most recent ones being Prince and Papa Wemba. But if there is one thing to note about all their deaths is that people only remembered them when they were gone. No body really cared to give them tributes or play their music when they were still living.

So what am I trying to say? Well, while it is important to live an impactful life, it's more important to live a life that makes you happy. Because the truth is people only care when you are relevant. Think of those singers, the world didn't shout or talk while they were still here on the planet.

Stop worrying about, what other people would say, and make descions and choices that make you happy. Because at the end of the day, they only remember you when you're gone.

Hey beautiful people, how are we all doing. Can you believe we're already in the last week of the Month of April, how time flies, how time flies.

So I've been thinking about life and how it is important to always go the extra mile. If you think of the greatest success stories, you'll see that, these people always went an extra step further. Look at Joseph of the bible, he not only interpreted pharaoh's dream, but also gave a solution (Genesis 41). Sometimes we get comfortable in mediocrity or satisfactory but that doesn't achieve anything spectacular, now wouldn't you agree?

So I've never really been much of a girly girl, I've always preferred pants over skirts and less played out looks but as I get older, I feel like I'm evolving.

I don't know about you but something about lace and peplum just screams femininity. In styling the top, I decided to go for an all white look and then added a pop of pink.

Photography be Me

Hey Beautiful people, how are you all doing. Long time no outfit post!
So sorry for the inconsistency, I'm constantly faced with the fact that plans don't always go as we expect them too and it sucks but this is something I'm learning to get used to.

When I started typing this post I had so much to say but now I'm blank. So this is will just be a quick outfit  post, I have previously styled my grey high-waist trousers here and here. Today I decided to pair it with a khaki sweater and opted for nude pumps and nerd glasses to give the look an edge. This would be ideal for perhaps the corporate world, though I have rocked this look with flats to the station.

How would you style this look differently?
For more tips on how to style high-waist trousers, read my guide here.

Hey beautiful people! So the other day I was on pinterest looking into all the amazing ways to mix prints. I love print and one great way to stand out is to mix them. I mean nothing spectacular really happens in comfort zones

Today, I'll be dishing four simple tips that'll guide you on how to mix prints.
Pictures are from Pinterest , click the text below for the links

1. Stripes
Stripes are your best bet, they are the easiest print to mix and they pretty much  match with every other print. So if you're unsure then stick to stripes.

2. Monochrome

Go with a monochrome theme. When mixing prints in the same colour tone you can't go wrong especially when mixing black and white

3. Matching prints

You can always mix the same prints but then go with different colours to create a colour blocked look like Solange below or picture this, a pink polkadot top tucked into a blue polkadot skirt.

4. Common factor

Finally when mixing prints in different patterns and colour combinations, make sure that there is a common colour in the two pieces. In my outfit the common colour was blue and black, see how that works?

Hope this helped, what guides you when rocking print on prints?
I'll see you all next time, with an ootd post!
Hey guys, I'm back! Now for those wondering why the break? Well I had way too much on my plate, hence  I had to step back and get organized. The break was actually supposed to be longer but then I got inspired!

How are you all doing by the way? So I've been in the city of Calabar, Cross River state for a couple of months and I realized that I have barely had the chance to be a proper tourist. What with my 9-5 or more like 8-8 working hours at my place of service, I barely have time for myself. On my free days, I either take blog pictures, do laundry or sleep my ass off. But this had to change. So this past week I took myself out to popular tourist site, Marina Resort and on Saturday I met some really cool Calabar based bloggers.

Meet Chakie and Zahzee of ourblogazine, how cute are their names? Anyways, these Ladies are locals of the state and were raised here. One of my resolutions this year was to step out and meet more people as I can be a bit of loner. I'm glad I took this step as you can't break forth while remaining in your comfort zone (life hack).

I actually chilled at Marina before meeting them. The breeze and view was so calming and I actually got some things done while waiting.

Saw some carnival girls from a band, not sure what they were up to though, but I'm sure most of your are familiar with the calabar carnival which takes place in December ever year. I missed it last year but hopefully this time I'll get to see what all the hype is about.

Finally, I had Chinese fried rice at Happy Food on Marian road. For those who don't know, I lived in Asia for seven years, Thailand to be precise, see posts here and here. So I've been craving Asian food like crazy and I had a treat as the fried rice was perfect. Next time, I intend to explore more dishes on the menu as it was reasonably priced. Thank you (you know who you are).

I loved the ambiance, I could sit there for forever.

Probably the first time a photo bomb actually made a shot. Okay maybe not the first time, note Olajumoke and Ty Bello.

Head over to ourblogmagazine to find out more about these lovely ladies.

If your looking for places to visit in Calabar, Marina Resort is a great place to relax and talk, while Happy Food offers good Chinese food.

This post was actually supposed to be a lot shorter but I have a lot of talking to get out of my system, so stay tuned. I do hope you enjoyed the post, would you like to see more posts like this?

Hey guys!
How are you all doing? So I don't know if you all saw this coming but I'll be going on a short break. Thought I should just let you know rather than just disappearing and neglecting my blog. I'll see you all in a bit.

Till then

Happy new month beautiful people and welcome to the second quarter of 2016. God has been awesome!

So my mom marked her birthday anniversary yesterday and I couldn't help thinking how lucky I am to have such an amazing woman as a role model. Growing up we didn't always see eye to eye but the older I get, the more I realize how blessed I am. My mom is a big influence in the woman I am today.

So this post is dedicated to her, I will be sharing five things that my mom taught me.

1. Relationship with  God
I was brought up in a strong Christian home. As early as I can recall, my mom drilled into me the importance of having a relationship with God. She was always there to make sure we prayed together and kept up with our Bible reading. I'm so blessed to have parents who are deeply rooted in God

2. Sacrifice and kindness
My mother has sacrificed a lot for me and my siblings. She was always around to give advice and listen. She's taught me the importance of giving even when you don't have.  She embodies the proverbs 31 woman. I pray to be able to mother my children the way she mothered me.

3. Modest is the hottest
Remember my post on does the way you dress really matter? Well my mom inspired it. She has instilled in me the importance of dressing modestly but yet still fashionably. Sure we may clash on some of my clothing choices ( sleeveless, shorter hemlines) but I've found a balance in everything.

4. Honesty
If you've spent sometime with me then you know that I can be very honest, I got that from my my mama.  Life is so much easier when you don't have to stress over unsaid things. Though I'm still learning how to speak less because not everyone appreciates honesty.

5. Saving
This is still one of my weaker points as I'm still learning this but when you have a mom like mine who knows how to hold money, then you've got to learn. I sometimes wonder how rich I would be now, if I practiced more of this habit, but hey I'm still learning.

What are some lessons your mom has taught you?
Shoutout to the amazing moms like mine! Now I would post her picture but my mama has this thing against online pictures.
